What I Ate Wednesday # 30

What I Ate Wednesday # 30

It’s Wednesday again, so that means I am checking in with what I have been eating lately. Honestly, these days have been pretty blah. I have not been feeling very well. Nothing major just not hungry and my stomach has been a little funny. Anyway, my eating has not been up to par. I am still trying to get all my protein in each day, which has not been easy.

Meal # 1 – 7:30

For some reason I was very nauseas this morning and did not feel like eating, but we decided to make Greek Yogurt Waffles. They were delicious. I also had a banana and a few strawberries. (23 grams of protein)

Snack # 1 – 9:30

I was not hungry yet, but knew we wouldn’t be home from dance for awhile so I had to eat something. Sophia and I split a Luna bar. I had a glass of milk too. (10 grams of protein)

WIAW 30 - Luna Bar
WIAW 30 - milk

Meal # 2 – 11:30

As I was making the girls peanut butter and jelly sandwiches they looked good. I decided I wanted one, but I needed protein. So, I made a peanut butter and jelly onΒ half aΒ Flat Out flatbread (more protein than bread). (7 grams of protein)

WIAW 30 - Flat Out PBandJ
WIAW - Flat Out

Snack # 2 – 1:00

Bowl of fruit with the girls.

Snack # 3 – 2:00

With how I was feeling I knew it wouldn’t be easy getting enough protein in so I decided to make a peanut butter protein shake. (30 grams of protein)

WIAW 30 - PB Shake

When I made my shake the girls wanted smoothies too. So, I made them their fruit smoothies and I finally tried adding spinach. Guess what? The girls loved them. I had some of theirs too and it was delicious. Love adding veggies to their diets whenever possible.

Snack # 4 – 4:00

Flat Out chips with hummus. I made the Flat Out chips the same way I make these pita chips. (5 grams of protein)

Meal # 3 – 6:00

It was golf league night for Steve, as usual my mom came over to help with dinner and bedtime. We decided to cook up hamburgers, sweet potatoes, and corn on the cob. (30 grams of protein)

WIAW - burger and sweet potato
WIAW 30 - corn on the cob

Quick and Easy Hamburgers

Mix ground beef with zip sauce and your favorite seasoning. Divide into designated amount of burgers and grill. These turn out juicy and tasty. This is my go to when I want to make quick burgers.

WIAW - zip sauce and seasoning

Dessert – 8:30

My sweet mom stopped at Trader Joe’s for me and bought one of my favorite treats.

WIAW 30 - mini pb cups

Of course, I ate a handful while relaxing on the couch.

I usually try to eat a salad everyday, but it didn’t happen today. Tomorrow I will make sure to have a nice big salad.

I really want to try those flat out wraps! I’ve seen them on a couple different blogs, and they look really good πŸ™‚
I love green smoothies but haven’t had one in far too long. One of my favorite non-green smoothies involves frozen mango, coconut, and almond butter. I should try it with spinach sometime soon! It’s getting to be the perfect weather for smoothies – nice and hot.
Oh and I got some cottage cheese at the store the other day so I’m excited to make your pancakes this weekend! πŸ˜€

    • They are so good and I like that they are so versatile. Your smoothie sounds delicious, we will have to try it sometime soon.

I had those pancakes this morning. YUM!! I am so excited for you to give them a try. Let me know what you think after you try them. πŸ™‚

I haven’t jumped on the smoothie train yet, but I know I really need to. I’ve been eating eggs for breakfast every morning to try and get some more protein in my diet…It seems like I have a problem getting all my protein in!

    • This is a great time of year to start making some smoothies. We enjoyed ours while sitting on the deck, it was perfect. πŸ™‚

Protein shakes really do help get in more protein.

My husband and I LOVE those mini peanut butter cups from Trader Joe’s! They don’t last long around here. πŸ˜‰

    • They are so good and very addicting. When I eat them I always make sure to grab a handful and put the rest away; otherwise I will eat them all. πŸ™‚

I like them cold so I store them in the fridge and I make sure to put them in the back of the fridge. Out of sight, out of mind. HAHA!

I used to drink green smoothies loads but I haven’t had one for ages!! They’re really refreshing though and you feel as if you’re just filling your body full of goodness πŸ™‚ mm.
Love the look of those mini PB cups!

  5. Now I want chocolate peanut butter cups!! πŸ™‚
Thats great the girls loved the spinach. I just keep packing more greens in Octave’s smoothies and she keep eating them, Hurray! I have been juicing every day too and blending the green vegetable juice with a dollop of yogurt and a frozen banana. O Loves that one! I don’t know if you have a juicer, but something tells me you would be ALL about it:) Loving reading your blog by the way. xo

    • Those peanut butter cups are delicious. πŸ™‚

Bella is very easy when it comes to vegetables. She still likes to eat veggie baby food with her meals. But Sophia started to get my difficult as she got older. So I love that I can get in spinach through their smoothie.

Thank you. I loved writing it!!

I love green smoothies! I had my fair share of them yesterday πŸ™‚ I just juiced some kale, beets, and spinach and froze them in ice cube trays to add to my smoothies. A little added green juice for some extra nutrients! They taste good too!

    • Oh that is a great idea. That would be an easy way to add green to any smoothie. I am going to have to do that. Thank you!!

Your peanut butter protein shake looks so good! I made a similar one after CrossFit today using almond milk, a frozen banana, scoop of egg protein powder, a tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder, a little honey and a dollop of peanut butter. Keenan and I shared it and it was SO good!

    • It is so yummy. That is my favorite protein shake. Your combination sounds delicious, as well, I am going to have to give that one a try. πŸ™‚

How does the egg protein powder taste? I have thought about buying some, but never knew what to expect.

Yum… I want your whole day!! πŸ˜€ Great job with the protein, despite not feeling up to par. Keep pushing through– you are doing amazing. I’m seriously impressed by your dedication to nutrition.

Your supper looks particularly amazing with the hamburgers, sweet potato, and corn on the cob!

I haven’t had a smoothie in awhile, but my favorite combo was always one or two frozen bananas, some vanilla protein powder, a little yogurt/milk, and some cocoa powder!

    • Thank you! I will do anything for healthy girls. πŸ™‚

That dinner is one my favorite summertime meals! It is perfect to me.

I am a huge smoothie girl! Love them. I try to make all of my smoothies a little green with spinach. I tried a Kale Apple Smoothie I found in Real Simple a few years ago that is SUPER green. Kale is super powerful!

    • Oh that smoothie sounds delicious. I haven’t made one with apple or kale yet, but I think I am going to have to soon. Thank you!!
