What I Ate Wednesday #14 – Protein

What I Ate Wednesday #14 – Protein

Thank you Jenn for hosting. I really like to see what I am eating at least once a week and this is a great way to keep me accountable.

With twin pregnancies I have been told you need to be eating a lot of protein. So, you will notice I am really trying, it is not the easiest when you don’t really feel like eating.

Breakfast 7:30

Greek Yogurt Waffles (23 grams of protein)

Yogurt Waffle

Snack 9:30

Peanut Butter Protein Shake (25 grams of protein)

Peanut Butter Protein Shake - with straw

Lunch 12:00

Turkey and lettuce wrap with a  fruit salad – I know it is plain, but I was a simple eater before pregnancy and my food has become even more simplified. Strong tastes and smells make me sick. But, my goal is to have two healthy babies and I am really trying. I tried to take a picture of it wrapped up but it kept falling apart. (21 grams of protein)

Turkey and Lettuce Wrap
Fruit Salad

Snack 2:00

A can of tuna fish with a little miracle whip. I love tuna fish, but during pregnancy you are only supposed to eat it 1-2 times per week. (26 grams of protein)

Pre-Dinner 4:30

Salad

Dinner 5:30

I forgot to take a picture of dinner, as well. I had two poached eggs with two pieces of toast. This is one of my favorite ways to eat eggs. I have really been trying to have at least one egg a day, my doctor said that they are a great source of protein. I will try and remember to take a picture next time. (14 grams of protein)

Total Protein Today: 109 grams

Wow, I am so excited. I have been told my numerous doctors and books that I should be eating around 100 grams of protein a day for two healthy babies. I did it!

  1. During the day do you have a specific goal you are trying to achieve when you eat certain foods, more protein, veggies, etc?
  2. Are you a plain and simple eater or will you eat just about anything?

I will eat just about anything! Love food! My goal for every day would be to not overindulge. I easily could. Loved being pregnant and able to eat, eat, eat! Although I was sick for many months, but I just kept trying. 😉

    • Not overindulging is something we all try to do. 🙂 Yes, I loved being pregnant with my girls, this one is throwing me a lot of interesting obstacles, but it is amazing to know there are two little ones in there. Thank you for the support it really helps.

I always watch to make sure that I am getting enough protein. I think I average around 100 grams a day.

I am a person who will eat just about anything, but because of my stomach issues, I eat very simply like you. 🙂

Wow, twins!! How exciting! I remember tracking protein in my pregnancy too (recommended from our Bradley classes)- you’re doing great!

Good job on your protein intake! I used to keep track of my protein and calories but haven’t in a while. I need to get back on track with it though. I like to make sure I’m getting enough protein 🙂
