McKenzie and McKayla – 9 Months Old

Okay is it me or does it feel like I just wrote their 8 month update? I can’t believe another month has come and gone. They are going to be a year old before I know it and that makes me sad. My babies are growing up too fast. They are  going to be getting on the bus and going to school in no time. This just reminds me that I need to cherish every moment I get with all of my girls.

These two faces just melt my heart.

McKayla Grace

McKayla has gained a pound in the last month. YAY!! I can’t believe how far she had come since she was born at just 3 lbs. 3 oz.

McKayla is still wearing size 3 month in clothing and a size 3 diaper. I can’t believe our little peanut is still wearing 3 month clothing, but at least I know she is growing. 🙂

Sleeping: This past month has been rocky in the nap department. McKayla has not been feeling her best so our naps have been a hit or miss. But thankfully we are finally getting back on track and the last couple of days we have had our normal long naps.

Again, since she hasn’t been feeling well night time sleep has been rough, but hopefully we have turned the corner and we are going to get some sleep.

McKayla still loves her pacifier, but we are now only using it for sleeping.

Eating: I am still breastfeeding both girls; they nurse about 4-5 times a day. They are also both eating 3 meals a day. McKayla is obsessed with my pumpkin protein pancakes. She is a pro at feeding herself. McKayla actually prefers to feed herself; this is making my life so much easier. When McKayla is done eating she lets you know. Seriously, she becomes so tight lipped it is not even funny. I plan on giving them more meat this week. I am going to give them some meatballs, chunks of chicken, etc.

A sample day would be:

Wake at 7 am – nurse

8 am Breakfast – pumpkin protein pancakes with fruit

10 am nurse and nap

12 pm Lunch – sweet potato and banana

2 pm nurse and nap

5 pm Dinner – Green beans and applesauce

7 pm nurse and bedtime

Milestones: McKayla is officially a crawler. She started crawling this week and loves her new found freedom. She has also started pulling herself to standing; which is crazy. I can’t believe how well she is doing for being so tiny.

Teeth: McKayla still only has her two bottom teeth in. I think she is working on a couple more, but I have seen any yet.

McKenzie is definitely the attention seeking one. If you don’t say hi to her she will let you know. She loves to steal toys from McKayla, but McKayla doesn’t let her get away with it. It is so sweet to watch there two play together.

McKenzie is still wearing a size 6 month in clothing and a size 3 diaper.

Sleeping: As with McKayla, this past month has been a hit or miss in the napping department. McKenzie has not been feeling well. She cannot kick this cold and it is so sad to listen to her sniffle. These past few days have gotten much better. We are on our way to getting back our lives. 🙂

Eating: McKenzie still loves her food. She loves to eat. She loves pumpkin protein pancakes. She also loves her yogurt; I really haven’t found too much she doesn’t like. Like McKayla, McKenzie is getting really good at feeding herself. However, unlike her sister she would rather be fed. 🙂

McKenzie’s favorite way to eat is with her feet by her face.

Her day pretty much looks like McKayla’s give or take a few minutes.

Milestones: McKenzie has been crawling for about 3 weeks now and she is getting very good. She is fast, I have to be careful. McKenzie loves to pull herself to standing and does so any chance she gets. She would rather be standing then sitting. She is already starting to try to stand without holding on, but we are definitely not ready for that yet.

McKenzie and is a talker. She loves to be heard and right now her favorite thing to say is Dada. She says it all the time and Isabella says, “McKenzie wants Daddy”.

Teething: McKenzie has five teeth and I think she is working on her sixth. She has two on the top and three on the bottom.

  1. They are getting so big!! Love to see how their personalities develop!

    • I know it is crazy to think how far they have come. I can’t believe they are going to be one in no time!

  2. Your girls are so cute! I can’t believe they are 9 months old already! It feels like it was yesterday when you were pregnant with them! I feel the same way about my little girl who just turned 2 months old. Like you said, it certainly reminds me to cherish every moment with her (as well as with Keenan)! They grow up WAY too fast.

    • Thank you. I can’t believe it either. Life goes by before our eyes. Sometimes I wish I could make it freeze for just a little while.

Do your girls sleep in the same room or crib? My twins are 4 months old and still in the same crib, but I’m wondering when we need to separate them…

    • They sleep in the same room, but different cribs. They started out in the same crib, but once they started rolling over we separated them. I would keep them together until they are waking each other up. If it is working for you, I wouldn’t mess with it. 🙂
