3 Weeks Postpartum + Shrinkx Belly Review

Oh my goodness, I can’t believe our twins are 3 weeks old already. While we were going back and forth to the hospital it felt like forever, but now it feels like they were just born.

McKenzie and McKayla in Basinet

Let’s talk about what has been happening around here this past week.

Emotionally, I have been thrilled with the fact that both our girls are home and doing amazingly well. But, I am also feeling stuck once again. Actually, I have felt like this the entire second half of the pregnancy due to partial and complete bed rest. Right now I am stuck at home because McKayla really isn’t big enough to go too many places. When she was discharged on Monday she was not even 4 pounds. We were advised to put her in her carseat as little as possible, until she is bigger. I know this is only for a short time and it is probably good for my recovery, since I really didn’t get one after they were born, but it’s still not easy.

I also worry every second of the day on whether or not our girls are growing enough. When they were at the hospital they were weighed daily, now they haven’t been weighed since Sunday and we will find out tomorrow how much they have grown. I am praying that McKayla gains a lot of weight just like her sister. I would love for her to be over 4 pounds. It would make me feel so much better about everything.

Physically, I feel great. I am ready to get back to working out, but I have no idea how I am going to find time to do it. I know I will come up with a plan and we will get a nice routine going. One thing I do know is once the twins get bigger we will all go to the gym together. Our gym has a wonderful childcare center. Sophia and Isabella will be in one section and the twins will be in another. I won’t go everyday but I am definitely going to try for a few days a week. I will let you know how I fit fitness into this busy household. I am a huge believer in taking some time out for ourselves. As mothers sometimes we forget to do that.

3 Weeks Postpartum Weight: 5 pounds above pre-pregnancy weight

3 Weeks Postpartum Measurements:

Hips: 36 inches (pre-pregnancy size; thanks to my Shrinkx Hips)

Bellybutton: 30 inches (2 inches away from my pre-pregnancy size; thank you to belly binding)

Thighs: 20 inches (1 inch less then my pre-pregnancy size)

Shrinkx Belly Review

I was so excited when I was asked to try out their new Shrinkx Belly Wrap. This wrap is so well designed. It has all the aspects of a regular binder plus added support with the side Velcro straps. By having these extra straps you are able to add more pressure where you need it most. These two extra pieces enable you to pull the binder even tighter to help shrink your belly quicker. All of these great features make this wrap a wonderful postpartum tool to getting your body back. The Shrinkx Belly Wrap is very easy to put on and we all know for new moms ease is very important.

The material is comfortable, it is soft and breathable. I have even slept in it a few times.

This wrap works much like their Shrinkx Hips (which I love) with the extra velcro pulls on the side.

I am a huge believer in belly binding after pregnancy. I used one after each of my pregnancies and I truly think they help get my belly back. My measurements after each pregnancy always made me want to use a binder again. Not only do binders help shrink your stomach they also help provide back support. I know when I am breastfeeding I have a tendency to lean over the babies; which is not great for my back. By wearing a binder it can really help with all your midsection pain.

In the Comments Below:

  1. Did you use a binder after pregnancy? If so what did you think?
  2. If you are currently pregnant do you plan on using a binder?

I’m planning on buying a binder, but I’m not sure which one to get yet! Glad to hear you’re feeling so well!

I recently purchased Shrinkx Hips, looking into the Belly one as well, but how do you wear both at the same time? What’s your routine with both items? I’m 31 weeks and 4 days pregnant with identical twin girls and on modified bed rest as the docs say they can come at anytime and I really want to get to 34 weeks! Just had steroid shots given for their lungs incase of premature labor, which is supposed to be amazing for their lil lungs to mature and develop. Anyway loving your blog! xo

    • Congratulations on being pregnant with twin girls. They are the best. 🙂 I truly feel like the steroid shots are what prevented my girls from having to have oxygen, so that is so wonderful you are all set.

When I wear both I put the Shrinkx Hips on first then I put the Shrinkx Belly, sometimes the belly wrap might over lap a little but it all works very well. You will play around and find what works best for you, but they work amazingly well together.

Thank you for reading. I am so glad you love it. 🙂

I had a C Section so the hospital provided me one to help with my back, since you tend to lean more after a Section. Mine was basic hospital grade but I still believe it helped so much as I was back in my regular clothes within weeks!!

By the way, the babies are just gorgeous!!

I have one, but at 7 weeks PP STILL haven’t used it! Argh! I haven’t really needed it though, thankfully. I’ve heard mixed reviews on if the wraps really work, or it’s more genetics/nutrition/exercise. I will be interested to hear how you fit everything in! I am wondering that myself with only two. You are super Mom! Keep up the great work 🙂

    • I do agree with you on genetics/nutrition/exercise all being a big part of getting your body back. But I so think for me the binding helped me feel better right away. I felt more like myself within days. But it is definitely not a miracle worker. If you don’t take care of yourself binding isn’t going to make your belly magically go flat. 🙂

I am sure you will figure out this exercise thing too. One thing I know is that I think I am going to fall in love with the gym childcare even more than I already did!!

Your girls look so amazing! It is fantastic to hear about them doing so well and to know that you finally have your family home together. I can’t wait to hear their birth story!

One question. If you had to pick one wrap, which one would you prefer? For the price I would like to just order one.

    • Thank you. They are truly a blessing. I am writing the birth story right now. 🙂 I promise it is coming.

It is really hard to pick one. I like them both for different reasons. When you are deciding which on to choose ask yourself when you would most wear it. Neither one of these wraps can really be worn under clothes outside the house (they show too much). So, if you think you might be sleeping in it you would probably want to Tauts. But I really like the extra straps on the Shrinkx Belly because they can really make the binder much tighter. I know that was not a decisive answer, but they are quite different I can’t really pick one. I am sorry.

Glad to see that the twins are doing so well! I didn’t use a belly binder after I had Keenan, in fact I wasn’t too familiar with them until reading your post. After reading your results and how much you liked them, I’m tempted to get one after baby #2 is born!

    • Thank you. If you Google belly binding postpartum you will be able to read a lot of articles about the belly binding after pregnancy. They are quite interesting. 🙂

I definitely recommend them, they just make your belly feel nice and tight immediately after giving birth; which is a great feeling!!

    Hi,
Congrats on your twin girls! So beautiful. I am due in 8 days with my first, a little boy! I am very anxious about getting back to my pre-pregnancy body and worried if I will be able to. I am purchasing both shrinkx hips and belly. However, I am a little confused on the sizing. My belly right now measures 47 inches around the biggest part but I am worried if I buy a large it will be far to big for me after only few weeks. What are your recommendations.

    Kayla

    • Congratulations!! I am so excited for you. I would go with the small. I think the small/medium would be perfect. Keep me posted I can’t wait to hear all about your new little boy.

I use Belly Bandit both pregnancies and loved it. I’m super hard on myself regarding how i look physically – Hip Shrinx didn’t work for me – was not strong enough. Loved the materials from Belly BAndit. Your twins are gorgeous!

My baby is 7 weeks old. Is it too late to purchase a belly wrap and begin using? From what I’ve been reading, it sounds like I should have started 7 weeks ago. What’re your thoughts? Thank you!

    • It is best to start right after delivery, however I have read that as long as you wear it before 12 weeks postpartum it will still help. So, it never hurts to try. 🙂
