Good evening everyone. I can’t believe we are only a few days away from entering into a new year. Boy am I ready for one. Yes, I always say I want time to slow down and I do, but I am ready for this next phase in our lives. This next year will be the first year in 6 years I haven’t been pregnant or we haven’t had a baby. Yes, it’s crazy to think about that, but it is also exciting. I am definitely going to miss having a baby in our home though.
After mass before going to bed we always have a cake for Jesus. This year we had a green and red velvet. It was delicious and beautiful.
McKenzie loved it so much she just had to lick her plate.
The other day I filled you in the days leading up to Christmas, so now it’s time to tell you all about Christmas day with our family. But, before I get to that, I have to tell you that being Santa is a lot of work. By the time I went to bed on Christmas Eve I didn’t want to wrap another gift. We did have a glass of wine while getting everything ready, but it was still quite the ordeal.
It all began with Sophia waking up at 6am ready to see if Santa came; we had one excited little girl. Unfortunately, Isabella loves to sleep in. So, we made Sophia wait until 7am; we finally woke Isabella up. Watching their little faces is so magical.
Isabella was not ready for the bright lights. Don’t you just love her bedhead. 🙂
It was so much fun watching McKenzie and McKayla open gifts. I love seeing their little face light up.
One of our most loved gifts this year.
After we opened up presents and played with them for a little bit it was time to head out for the day. First stop, Grandma and Grandpa’s house (Steve’s mom and stepdad). It started with a wonderful waffle breakfast followed by lots and lots of presents and smiles. There was a surprise for mommy too. My hubby pulled one over on me. He told his mom I wanted a Fitbit and guess what I got one!! I was seriously so surprised it was amazing. 🙂
McKenzie and McKayla love coloring and playing at Gram’s little tables.
And little McKayla thought it was a great idea to try to stand on the chair.
They just couldn’t stop hugging. They hugged so much the fell over laughing.
Next stop, Mimi and Papa’s house (my mom and dad). This time we opened gifts first, which made the girls so happy. Once, we opened gifts I put the babies down for naps and the girls played with their new toys. One of their favorites being the Ice Cream Parlor to go with Samantha (American Girl) and the two horses and stable to go with Isabell (Yes, Isabell is a ballerina, but Isabella wanted the horses and stable.). I will talk more about favorite gifts in another post.
McKayla: Hey, what did we get? Let me see.
McKenzie: Mind if I give yours a try?
Opening her American Girl horses and stable. The excitement was beautiful.
These horses are huge!!
Sophia loved matching with Samantha.
Our third stop of the day was Nana’s house (Steve’s grandma). We had a wonderful dinner with our family. The girls continued to get more gifts. Yes, we are running out of room in our house. It is time to go through our toys.
Nana’s makes the best cookies. Actually, all Nana’s food is amazing.
Last stop of the day was Gigi’s house (my grandma). This is where we see all my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I have a wonderfully big, loud and fun family. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Many people may say our day sounds crazy, but we love it. Seriously, it really is so much fun and it doesn’t feel like we are running around. Each stop has a wonderful group of people that we truly enjoying spending time with. We feel so blessed to be able to see all out family on Christmas; it’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Thank you Katie for hosting.
