I thought today would be a great day to share some highlights of our trip.
We left on Thursday December 27th and let me tell you it is not easy leaving two days after Christmas. I really had no time to get my house together after all the festivities. So, low and behold we had to leave for the trip with a messy house. 🙁
The plane ride to Florida was fantastic. We took off at noon which means Isabella slept for half the flight and then woke up and simply wanted to snuggle and eat. It was pure bliss. Sophia is at such an easy age that we gave her the IPad or her new LeapPad2 and she played games the entire flight. The other toy that was a life saver was the AquaDoodle Travel. The girls colored on it during take off and landing while you couldn’t use electronics. They really loved it.
I don’t know about you but I always get so nervous about flying with little ones and I pack way too many activities for them to do. I never know what their attention span is going to be like during the flight. Some other things I had in my handy bag were fuzzy sticks (pipe cleaners), a mirror, small dry erase boards (Target dollar section), and play pack grab and go (I got a bunch at Target in the dollar section).
Once we landed we headed to the condo. We stayed at Orange Lake Resort, my in-laws have a timeshare there. It was 5 bedrooms, so a great size for all of us. There were 6 adults and 3 little ones. The resort is only 15 minutes from Disney World so it was perfect for our two days at the parks.
We went to Magic Kingdom on Friday the 28th and let me tell you in was crazy. I knew it was going to be busy but I never imagined it was going to be nuts. I will never take little ones to Disney at Christmas time again. There were just too many people and too many lines. It was so difficult to do anything. But we did have a great time.
We then took a few days off from going to the parks and relaxed by the pool at the resort. It was a nice break from all the chaos.
We went to Animal Kingdom at New Years Day. For some reason I didn’t take any picture from that day. Don’t ask me why. 🙂 The girls had a lot of fun but there is definitely not as much for them to do. Sophia’s favorite part from Animal Kingdom was the petting zoo. But she did tell us she like the castle better.
Sophia ended up getting sick on New Years. She had an awful cough and runny nose. She was simply miserable. Of course, she gave this wonderful sickness to her sister. So, by the time we got on the plane to come home on Thursday the 3rd our two girls we pretty sick. 🙁
Even though they were sick they were still amazing little travelers. We couldn’t ask for a better plane ride.
The girls were still not feeling better on Friday so I thought it would be best to take them to the doctors and unfortunately they have double ear infections. No fun. So they are on antibiotics and doing much better today. But, now Steve and I are sick. Wow, when one person gets sick it sure goes through the entire house. I sure have a lot of disinfecting to do.
I know I am so behind on the Christmas bandwagon since I took the week off. But I will post some highlights from our busy Christmas. With Steve’s parents being divorces we have crazy holidays, but it is all fun. 🙂
Sounds like a fun trip! Minus the sickness 🙁 My husband and little guy came down with the flu on NYE then I got it a few days later. So I know what you mean, once it starts, it doesn’t stop until it’s hit everyone! Hope you’re feeling better soon!
