Hello, Hello
Wow, our weekend was amazing. Seriously, I truly enjoyed spending time with Sophia and Isabella. Ever since McKayla and McKenzie were born my time has been limited and split between 4 little ones. But this weekend was all about my two older girls and I loved every minute of it. Since, it’s Monday I am joining Katie for Marvelous in My Monday.
I don’t even know where to begin. Sophia, Isabella, and myself had such a marvelous weekend. Everything about this weekend was perfect; time with my older girls, dress shopping with my future sister-in-law, spending time with my baby sis and big brother, time with my parents, etc. Seriously, I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.
Our weekend all began Friday night with our 5 hour drive to Chicago. My sister drove with us and we made amazing time. Sophia and Isabella slept the entire car ride then decided to wake up right before arriving. So, of course we had two very excited girls. But, we were on vacation and that’s what it is all about. They had a bawl in the hotel room and seeing Mimi and Papa. Life is good!
We woke up bright and early on Saturday morning (Sophia and Isabella were still on Michigan time) and had some snuggle time then went downstairs in our hotel and had a wonderful breakfast. The food was amazing.
After breakfast we headed out to the Disney store and American Girl store. The girls each picked out a new Anna and Elsa Barbie (of course) and Isabella got the Anna tiara, but unfortunately they were out of the Elsa tiara. Once, we were done perusing the Disney store we headed down the street to the American Girl store. Steve and I talked to our girls are about choosing which doll they wanted Santa to get them for Christmas. We told them they were not buying a doll while there. Mimi and Papa wanted to buy them something. So, they told them they could pick our something to go with their doll. Sophia wants Samantha (which is the doll I had as a little girl) and Isabella wants Isabelle (the doll of the year). They loved the store and cannot wait to get their dolls. We told them they have to extra good so Santa will get them their doll.
We then headed back to our hotel so Mimi, Papa, and Auntie Ade could get ready to go to the U of M vs. Northwestern football game. Once, they left for the game Sophia, Isabella, and I snuggled and watched The Little Mermaid. Half through the movie I knew my girls needed to close their eyes (since we were up late the night before) so I turned the movie off and we all fell asleep. This was one of my favorite parts of our trip. I loved holding my girls while we slept. I loved my time with them. They both slept for 3 hours. I couldn’t tell you the last time they napped for so long.
After we woke up we decided to go walk around the city for a little bit before dinner. The girls wanted to get Daddy some popcorn and some for themselves too. So, we went and waited in line at Garrets. Well, worth the half hour wait. Delicious.
Saturday night dinner was spent with our cousins from Illinois and Giordano’s Pizza. We only get to see them about 2-3 times a year. So, every time we see them is special and we love it. My girls are still talking about how much fun they had with their cousins and can’t wait to see them again. Sophia was crying for her cousins tonight before bed. Family is the best.
Sunday was the BIG day. It all began with room service for the girls. We knew our girls we not going to make it until 11am (brunch reservation) to eat so we ordered them some pancakes. They couldn’t have been more excited to have breakfast brought to the room and eat on the special table. They were being so silly and having so much fun.
Sophia and Isabella finally got to see Aunt Sarah and Uncle Fran; happiness is this right here.
We had brunch at a restaurant at the Drake hotel. It was another delicious meal. I must say we didn’t have a bad meal while in Chicago. Our sweet Isabella fell asleep in Mimi’s arms. Seriously, all of a sudden we eyes we shut.
Now, it was time for dress shopping. So. Much. Fun. I can’t even begin to explain to you how much I love weddings. I love everything about them the beautiful dresses, the happiness, the love, the excitement, etc.
This is not Mimi’s best picture, but I love the sweetness in Sophia’s face. This picture truly shows how much Sophia loves her Mimi. Sophia and Mimi have such a special relationship and I love that.
After dress shopping we met back up with Uncle Fran and Papa, went back to the hotel and then got on the rode. Auntie Ade, Isabella, Sophia, and I started on our venture back home. Sophia fell asleep within seconds of being on the rode and Isabella was loving her movie. Let the journey begin.
We stayed at the Omni and I can’t even tell you how wonderful the hotel was. It was in a terrific location, the rooms are all suites and it is beautiful.
I couldn’t’ ask for a better hubby. He took amazing care of McKenzie and McKayla. But, he didn’t just take care of our girls he cleaned and did laundry. AMAZING.
One of the most marvelous things that happened was Sophia sleeping in until 7:50am this morning. Yes, this took some strategic planning on my part (we have to leave for the bus at 8:05am and Sophia needed to eat breakfast and get dressed), but she needed her sleep and it was perfect.
Not so marvelous is how sad my babies were when I was leaving on Friday night. They cried hard, which meant Mama cried hard. I cried the entire car ride to my sisters. It was not easy leaving their sad faces. I found out later that poor McKenzie cried pretty much until bed time. She stood at the garage door yelling Mama, Mama. My poor baby. But, they had a wonderful weekend with their Daddy. It was much needed Daddy daughters time.

- Now it is your turn. Tell me what is marvelous in your life.
What a FUN weekend! I have to say, even though I live in the Chicago area, I don’t get to the city enough… and I have never even stayed overnight in the city. I think that when my littles are a bit older, I will do a weekend trip like you did. They would love that, I’m sure!
Thank you. Your girls will love it when they are a little bit older. It is definitely a wonderful city for families.
