Even though I still ate rather healthy on our trip I came back feeling fluffy and bloated. So, the first thing I made sure to do was drink water and A LOT of it. I have been drinking about 120 ounces a day and that makes such a big difference. I always feel so much better at the end of the day when my water intake is on the higher side.
After getting home from our trip I also made sure to get right back to macro counting and making better choices 90% of the time. Typically, I try to keep at least 80% of my diet healthier food, but after getting back from a trip I usually tighten it up a little bit. This time it was no different and I am already back to feeling normal again.
Since getting back I haven’t cut calories drastically or tried to eliminate carbs, I have simply gotten back on track with counting macros and it feels good. So, much better then trying to deprive myself. I love going on trips and giving myself a little leeway when it comes to tracking (every once in awhile), but I love getting back on track even better.
My typical day has looked something like this:
1 serving of FlapJacked Protein Pancakes for breakfast.
1/2 a cup of both strawberries and grapes for a morning snack. I love my fruit, especially in the summer.
A salad for lunch with either tuna, lean ground beef, or grilled chicken.
BBQ chicken salad has been one of my favorites these days. I usually top mine with cheese, chicken, bacon, and BBQ sauce.
A bowl of cereal (2/3 cup of Kasha Go Lean with 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk) for an afternoon snack. Cereal is so refreshing to me it also curbs my sweet tooth.
Some days I have a cup coffee (with a tablespoon of coffee-mate natural bliss salted caramel and a packet of raw stevia) for a little pick me up mid afternoon.
I was getting a little hungry so before heading out to the pool so I ate a poached egg, 4 egg whites, and two pieces of dry toast.
Once, getting back from the pool I might have a hamburger on a light bun or ground beef on a flat-out flatbread (this decision would depend on my carb count for the day). I love both of these equally so either way I was happy.
Before calling it a night I would end my night with a Kashi 7 Grain waffle topped with 1/2 a tablespoon of almond butter.
{I’m sorry I haven’t been the best with taking pictures of my food these days, but I promise to get back on track.}
I am a creature of habit and I actually don’t mind eating relatively the same food day in and day out. Of course, I change it up here and there, but by keeping things simple I don’t have to think too much about my meal plan.
