Oh my goodness, I can’t believe the girls are already 5 weeks old. Some days I feel like they have been with us forever and some days I feel like they just came home. But no matter what I am truly blessed to have all my girls together.
I am so excited to tell you about this new product we just received.
It is wonderful to be able to weigh our babies at home. It is especially nice to know our girls are gaining weight since they were so tiny at birth. This scale reassures me that they are doing well and getting enough breast milk.
We weighed the girls last night and McKayla weighed 5 pounds 3 ounces. She is up two pounds from birth and about 12 ounces in a week. McKenzie weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces. She is also up two pounds from birth. They are exceeding all of my expectations. I am so happy they are thriving so much being home.
My biggest worry when we brought them home was whether or not they were going to continue on their up hill path of gaining weight and eating well. They were doing a great job in the NICU, but you never know what is going to happen when you bring them home and as their mommy I prayed that they would do even better here. And they have been!!
Okay, let’s talk about this Aqua Scale a little more. Not only is the scale amazingly accurate (we tested it with a pound of butter), it also has a thermometer to let you know the temperature of the water. This is truly a great bath and scale. The Aqua Scale can also be used for many years. It turns into a terrific toddler bath! I will tell you if you are trying to figure out what bath to get this is for sure the one. Even if you don’t need a bath buy it for the scale. I am in love. I simply love knowing how much my girls weigh. Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to parenting.
You can read more about it here.
Sleep
The girls are starting to sleep in longer stretches, however, not always at the same time. One thing the girls are doing is becoming very gassy at night; to the point it wakes them up. I have been trying to figure out how to help them. I hate seeing my girls in pain. So, I started to do some research on many different options such as, gripe water, gas drops, etc. But, I really hate the thought of giving my babies “medicine” at such a young age. However, I found one product Happi Tummi Natural Colic Relief Waistband.
I am not sure if this works, but I am very tempted to buy a couple because I like the fact that I don’t have to give my girls medicine. I think it is worth a try.
5 Weeks Postpartum Check-In
There isn’t much to talk about today. I am feeling very good, the babies have been sleeping a little better. Everyone feels good when we are well rested.
My weight has gone down one pound in two weeks. Like I said last week not a big deal. But, it is nice to see the number a little lower, I am not going to lie.
My measurements are all the same as last week. So I am not even going to post those again. But I will tell you most likely my body and weight will stay the same until I start working out again. Which hopefully will be soon. I can’t wait to start moving again. But, I am one of those girls that truly waits the six weeks to get back into it. I know I need the recovery time, both emotionally and physically.
I will tell you right now I am in no hurry to get push my body too far, I will get to where I want to be when the time is right.

Please give me advice on what to do about my gassy babies? Should I just give it time or try something?
That aqua scale thing is awesome! Where did you find it?! I would’ve loved to have that when we were working on breastfeeding at the beginning.
Oh I am loving it. We are probably weighing the girls too much now. 🙂 But it is so nice knowing. You can find it at Babies R Us and Target.
Our babies are gassy as well. We used the gas drops but they don’t seem to do a thing. It has def. gotten better though the bigger they get. Hopefully that will be the same for you. That scale is awesome!
I will hope and pray the same thing happens with our girls. 🙂
I’m glad things are going well and the twins are doing great! When Keenan was gassy, we would just do the old “pump and circle the legs” that we learned in one our birth classes. We would do that every night practically and it helped. He didn’t have severe gas as I know some babies have, but it definitely helped him feel better and we were able to get some sleep.
I am definitely going to try to the leg thing. I remember doing that with Sophia, but totally forgot about it. Thank you!!
I am so glad the girls are doing so great and that picture of all of your girls warms my heart! My Grace was born small, not as small as yours, but I would have loved to have that water scale at home! Such a relief you must be feeling, especially with breast feeding! For the gas drops, you have to do whatever you are comfortable with and medicine. It took me until I knew it was the last resolution to give G medicine! You’re mama and you know best!!

Thank you. It is so nice knowing they are growing without having to wait to go to the doctors. 🙂 It is so hard deciding what is best for your child. Thank you. 🙂
