Wow, what a busy day. The girls enjoyed the day at home with Mimi while I ran a ton of errands. I haven’t had a day out by myself in more then a month and let me tell you I can get A LOT done when I am on my own.
My morning was a little different than usual for a couple reasons, first I only had McKenzie and McKayla (Sophia and Isabella spent the night at Mimi and Papa’s house. It was a fun surprise. My mom called Monday and asked to have the girls spend the night and of course I said yes. Sophia and Isabella were very excited.) Second, I decided to take a rest day which I rarely ever do during the week. I usually save my rest days for the weekend, but I really felt as though my body needed the extra sleep and a break. Crazy thing is I still walked over 5 miles. That’s what I call a day in the life of a busy mom.
After the girls woke up we ate some pumpkin protein pancakes and they were delicious.
I was ready for a snack shortly after breakfast so I ate a bowl of strawberries and grapes. Then before leaving for my day of errands I ate some egg whites with a paleo protein bar. I wanted to make sure I was fueled up for my day out.
While I was out shopping I knew I would need something to eat so I brought some turkey and popcorn to snack on while driving from store to store. Of course, I could have easily bought something unhealthy, but that never makes me feel well. I always try to stick to my healthy eating to feel my best.
Once I got home I made all of us a fruit smoothie and we played outside in the rain, the girls had a blast. I love watching my girls play together. I am so glad they will always have a friend.
Once we came inside I had a salad while the girls played with two of their friends. Yes, it was 6 to 1 for a little while, but I must say it was fun. The kids play so nice together and I love having happy noise in our house, sad noise not so much.
For dinner I had chicken with rice and hummus from a Mediterranean restaurant near us. I haven’t had it in awhile and I forgot how much I liked it. We need to make this a more regular thing.
I ended the day with a teaspoon of almond butter. So good!! I can’t explain it, but try it and you will love it too.
This day of food was very unplanned and unexpected, but as long as you know what types of food work for you, you won’t have a problem sticking to your plan.
