Oh my our little babies are 6 months old. It feel like just yesterday that we found out we were having twins. At the time I couldn’t imagine our lives with them and now I can’t imagine our lives without them. These past 6 months have been quite the whirlwind.
A lot of changes have been going on around here.
Sleep: This month we separated McKenzie and McKayla into their own cribs. Once they started rolling over we decided it wasn’t safe to keep them together.
This was a nap. I don’t cover them with blankets at night. I would worry too much. 🙂
McKenzie and McKayla have really taken a turn for the better in the past week. Their naps are finally getting a little more routine. They are each taking at least one long nap (1.5-2 hours) a day. They have been doing much better at night. They are waking up about two times (11pm and 4am) and let me tell you that is wonderful and truly I enjoy our private moments together. The night time feedings are so special to me. I love how they hold my fingers as the feed. I love spending alone time when each of them; I love our peaceful moments during the night. I am going to miss this one day. For about a month, from 4 1/2-5 1/2 months, they have been waking up a lot. I think they were going through the four month regression and teething. It was a long and exhausting month. I hope their new found love of sleeping is here to stay.
Eating: McKenzie can go about 3-4 hours between feedings during the day and McKayla can go about 2-3 hours between feedings during the day. They both get about a 5-6 hour stretch at night. We just started giving them solids a few days ago. McKenzie has really taken a liking to eating her food. So far McKenzie has tried sweet potatoes, rice cereal, pumpkin, and bananas. McKayla on the other hand is not a big fan of food. She simply doesn’t know what to do with it. She is slowly starting to eat a little better each day.
Favorites: McKenzie loves her wubbanub and any pacifier really. McKayla loves her pacifier, but she is not as picky as McKenzie. She will pretty much take anyone and kind. They love watching their sisters dance around and act silly. Both girls love any thing that lights up. McKenzie and McKayla love to interact with people. They truly light up when we talk to them.
McKenzie loves the jumperoo. She surprises herself at how well she can bounce. She is also getting really good at rolling over. She is starting to use rolling over as her method for moving. McKenzie is becoming really good at sitting up (supported). I think she will be doing it unsupported in no time.
McKayla isn’t as into the jumperoo as her sister. I think it is because she is so tiny. She doesn’t really know what to do with herself. She is getting really good at rolling over as well. She still needs a little more practice, but she will be rolling all over the place in no time.
McKayla Grace – 12 lbs. 4 oz.
McKenzie – 14 lbs. 12 oz.
McKenzie and McKayla are such sweet babies. We definitely have our rough moments, but when they smile at us we completely melt. When they are happy they are very very happy and when they are upset they are very very upset. Honestly, all the happy moments make up for the rough times.
In the next few days I am going to do an update on where I am at 6 months after giving birth to these two sweet babies. I also want to fill you in on my fitness plans for the next few months. I am so excited to finally feel ready to get into a routine.
