What I Ate Wednesday # 20 – Bed Rest

What I Ate Wednesday # 20 – Bed Rest

I have to say as nice as it sounds to have someone make your food and help you, it is really hard. I hate having to ask people to do everything for me. I feel like a burden on my poor mom. My mom says she loves it.

I miss cooking and take care of my girls, but the doctor wanted full bed rest yesterday and moderate bed rest for the next month. He said I can take care of the girls and make meals, but need to rest in throughout the day for the remainder of the month.

Breakfast 7:30

My mom made me two poached eggs with some fruit. (20 grams of protein)

Lunch 11:30

I changed it up today and decided to have a turkey and lettuce wrap. Mostly because we were low lettuce. (25 grams of protein)

Snack 3:30

Fruit Salad

Dinner 5:00

Steve’s Nana wants to help us during this time and she decided that one way she can help is to make us dinner once a week. So, she is going to make us dinner every Tuesday. Her house is on Steve’s way home from work so it is easy for him to pick it up.

Tonight, she made us spaghetti with her homemade meat sauce, so good. (15 grams of protein)

Snack 5:30

Since we have so many Easter eggs to eat I figured I would eat 3 hard boiled egg whites. For some reason I can’t get myself to eat the yolk of a hard boiled egg. I am not sure why. I love the yolk any other way we cook eggs. (10 grams of protein)

Snack 7:30

I wasn’t hungry at all, but I knew I needed more protein so I made a quick Peanut Butter Protein Shake.

(30 grams of protein)

I have learned that it is really difficult to hit my protein when I am not able to make my own food.

Total Protein: 100 grams

Total Water: 135 ounces

  1. How do you like to eat your hard boiled eggs?
  2. Do you eat the yolks of the eggs?

I like the entire hard boiled egg, but I have to top each bite with a little salt and pepper. Hope you are feeling better and off bed rest now. It always sounds nice until you have to really do it!

    • For some reason I never thought of putting salt and pepper on them. I think I will try that today. 🙂
Yes, you are so right it sounds nice until you are forced not to do anything.

I have been trying some of the Greek yogurt for extra protein and then also drinking two Boosts (High Protein) but I bet the peanut butter shakes you are making are better tasting than the Boosts! LOL – but I must say that the Rich Chocolate flavor tastes just like chocolate milk – 15 grams in each 8 oz bottle! At least the bed rest is moderate for now! I don’t have other kids but have horses to take care of – besides dumping out their feed most of my other horse chores like stall cleaning has gone out the window for me and I understand that it’s difficult to ask others for help, but just try to remember it does have an ending with a beautiful prize! 🙂

All your food looks delicious, even if you’re not getting to make it yourself 🙂 And I think I need to try that Peanut Butter Protein Shake, it looks wonderful!

Mm i love boiled eggs; I’ll either eat them whole or put them on a salad..so delicious! Pretty much always eat the yolks when i have them boiled too.
Your poached eggs also look perfect.

I have to admit that I don’t really like having other people cook for me unless it is at a restaurant. I prefer to have a hand in everything that I eat. But when sick, it’s definitely nice to be able to rely on someone else to do the cooking! That’s so sweet of your mom to help out while you are on bed rest. Hopefully you can get up and move around some more in the coming days. I bet you’re getting a little antsy as you are always such a busy bee 🙂
