What I Ate Wednesday # 19

What I Ate Wednesday # 19

As most of you know I have been focusing on eating a lot of protein and drinking at least a gallon of water each day. With everything that has been going with my twins I have learned that this is even more important now than ever. There have actually been studies that suggest eating extra protein and drinking more water can help stabilize or even reverse TTTS. Some doctors don’t agree with these findings, but I am willing to do whatever I can to help my girls survive.

Breakfast 8:00 (The girls slept in today.)

Oatmeal Protein Pancakes – I have been really craving my yogurt waffles, but I still haven’t decided on a new waffle iron yet. So, todayΒ I decided to have pancakes, with a sprinkle of powdered sugar. (29 grams of protein)

Oatmeal Protein Waffle with maple syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Lunch 11:45

I had a salad with turkey, sliced almonds, pita croutons, and a sprinkle of cheese. (21 grams of protein)

Snack 2:45

I had a bowl of Go Lean cereal. I am sorry I forgot to take a picture. (18 grams of protein)

Snack 4:00

One of my favorites of the day. I love munching on a big bowl of fruit.

Dinner 6:00

Since, it was Steve’s birthday he got to choose what he wanted for dinner and he chose french toast with sausage. It was a fun dinner. The girls loved it too. (18 grams of protein)

After Dinner Snack – 7:30

After dinner I realized I hadn’t hit my protein quota for the day. The only thing that had enough protein in it and sounded remotely appetizing was egg whites with toast. So, that is what I decided to have as an after dinner treat. I’ll do anything for my girls. (20 grams of protein)

Total Grams of Protein: 106

Total Ounces of Water: 128

Those oatmeal protein pancakes look wonderful! Can you taste the cottage cheese at all?

I usually turn to eggs (any way you cook them) for protein because I just love eggs πŸ™‚

    • They are delicious and no you can’t taste the cottage cheese at all. To be honest I cannot stand cottage cheese, but I love these pancakes. Sometimes if I need a little more sweet I will add a 1/4-1/2 tsp sugar. πŸ™‚

I love eggs too. They are so easy. πŸ™‚

I always just go for protein or tuna when I want to up my protein; a little has so much in!
I really want to buy a waffle iron too..not sure which one to go for either though.

    • Yes, tuna is a protein favorite of mine too. I keep forgetting to buy some from the store.
When you decide on your waffle iron let me know. I just can’t choose. I think I am going to go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond this weekend and just pick one. πŸ™‚

Can you drink Protein Powder during your pregnancy? I use that when I need more protein. Or hard boiled eggs, grilled chicken, raw nuts and nut butters πŸ™‚ I’d say your doing pretty good though!

    • Yes, I can use protein powder and I was drinking shakes for awhile but they haven’t sounded great lately. I think I am going to search for recipes using protein powder. Hard boiled eggs are a good idea, especially since I have so many. πŸ™‚ Thank you!

Check out Fitmixers website. I’m their recipe contributor and do a weekly recipe using their protein powder. You can substitute any protein powder into any of the recipes πŸ™‚ I just made some banana protein breakfast cookies that I’ll be posting next week and they are amazing!

        • Thank you I definitely will go check that out. Those recipes will help me not get so bored with protein. πŸ™‚

Some of my go-to protein favorites are: greek yogurt mixed with PB2 and some sugar-free chocolate syrup, beef jerky, whipped cottage cheese (can also include PB2), smoothies with protein powder and string cheese. πŸ™‚

Your dedication is awesome, and your babies are so lucky to have you as their mama! πŸ™‚

    • Your protein favorites sound delicious, I am going to have to give them a try. I have been getting sick of eating the same things.

Thank you so much. You really brightened my day. πŸ™‚
