MIMM # 15 – McKenzie’s Homecoming

Happy Monday everyone. I am so excited to share our marvelous news with all of you.

McKenzie is coming home today.

McKenzie - Discharge Day 2
It is such a strange feeling knowing we are bringing one of the twins home. It is like knowing when your going to give birth and have the babies. All last night after we found out I was anxious and excited. Steve said it was like Christmas Eve; the anticipation and excitement. I seriously got everything ready in a couple hours. I washed all the sheets, set up the basinet (on the first floor) and the arms reach co-sleeper (next to my bed). I am going to talk more about the Full Sized Arms Reach Co-Sleeper in the next few days. It is seriously the best thing ever made. And I love that the full sized co-sleeper can also be a used as a pack ‘n play. It is so versatile. I wish we would have had one of these with the girls. But at least we have it now!!

McKenzie is now weighing 5 lbs. 1 oz. (she had gotten all the way down to 4 lbs. 10 oz.)

McKayla is now weighing 3 lbs. 6 oz. (she has really picked up her weight gain; I think she knows her sissy is going home and doesn’t want to stay here much longer without her.)

McKayla - Daddy feeding 2

McKayla has also taken all of her feedings from a bottle or breast for the last 24 hours. We are well on our way to an open crib, then home to be with all of us.

McKenzie - Discharge Day - Carseat

Tandem Fed for the First Time

I came up to the hospital today for the 11am feeding so I could spend some time with the girls together. For the first time McKenzie and McKayla nursed at the same time. It was truly a marvelous “mom moment”. I seriously just watched them in awe of how sweet they are. I was looking at the tiny features and think how they came from Steve and me. I was thinking how much a like they look. Right now it is easy to see differences between them because of the sizes, but their features are the same; it so sweet and so special. We are truly blessed to have been given such a marvelous gift. When I first got pregnant I didn’t think God knew what he was doing choosing me to be a mother of twins, but I am so glad that he had all this faith in me. I am not going to let him down. I am going to be the best mom I can be. I will always try my hardest to give my girls all of my love. I am blessed and I never going to forget that. I vow to remember to take a step back and always be thankful for my family and my life.

At Home with her Sisters

A siblings love is marvelous!! Watching our girls together was an amazing feeling. I can’t wait until the day all four of our girls are together.

I am so happy one of the girls is home!!! And I can’t wait to tandem feed. It is seriously the thing I am most looking forward to. Question – did you have to have help from someone to latch on the second baby? I’m trying to figure out the logistics of that one, lol!

    • It is a miracle and I can’t wait for both girls to be together again. Tandem feeding is unexplainable; it is amazing. I seriously loved every minute of it. Looking at both their sweet little faces. This first time I did have help from the nurse. But as long as you are sitting somewhere where you can lay one baby next to you then you put the weaker nurser on first and lift the stronger nurse onto the other side. It was much easier than expected. I will talk about my journey in breastfeeding twins soon.
