29 Weeks Pregnant with Twins

29 weeks

Babies are the size of acorn squashes. They are about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long and weigh about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds. We have a growth scan next week, I can’t wait to see how they are growing. They are beginning to get a little cramped in there; especially with twins. Babies are beginning to get more energy to be able to live outside the womb.

Both babies are head down, ready for delivery. YAY!

How far along? 29 weeks

Weight Gain? I am not sure what I am at this week, but I would guess not much different from last week. I have been doing a belly measurement and I am just about the same if not less. Baby B’s fluid has gone done. YAY! I will explain more later.

Workouts? Stretching and some arm workouts. These arm workouts use no weights and can be done seated; they are the best. You can see them here. At least after I have the twins I can show off my arms. 🙂

Symptoms? Braxton Hicks, lots of pressure, sore back, and acid reflux. Oh and I can’t forget pure exhaustion. I have also been ridiculously thirsty lately, making it very easy to drink my water.

Stretch Marks? Not yet! I continue to use my coconut oil and Mama Mio lotion. And of course the power of prayer.

Sleep? I have been extremely tired lately so I can sleep just about anywhere, anytime.

Movement? They are definitely starting to slow down. They are both head down now. Which is awesome for so many reasons. One of which means I only have feet in my ribs not full bodies or heads any more. I can breath better and I am so much more comfortable.

Milestone: Each week is a milestone at this point. We are celebrating 29 weeks.

Genders? Identical twin girls.

Labor signs? Contractions and pressure, but I have been told everything is okay.

Belly button in or out? Out.

What I am looking forward to this week? At this point I am simply looking forward to another week of keeping the twins in my belly. I wouldn’t say I am depressed, but I am definitely just going through the motions right now. I am done with being pregnant. I remember with the first two I always said don’t wish this time (pregnancy) away, but this time it is different then either of the first two. At this point I want to move on from this stressful time and enjoy my girls; all four of them!!

Happenings/Thoughts from this past week:

  1. Since Monday was a holiday we had our weekly ultrasound yesterday and both girls look amazing. Baby B’s fluid level actually went down. Yes, I said it. I can’t believe it that is the best news. This explains why my belly has not grown much over the past week or so and it explains why I feel much more comfortable. I thought maybe it was because they had dropped, but I think it is because I have less fluid in my belly. YAY! If I can sty this comfortable for the next few weeks I feel really great about making it to at least 35 weeks, maybe even 36.
  2. I have been measuring my belly almost weekly from the beginning to see how many inches it would grow this time around. Since the fluid decreased the measurement has actually gone down half an inch. Next week I will make a measurement chart and you can see how big my belly has grown so far. 🙂
  3. Yesterday morning we decided to bring the girls with us to see their sisters on the “TV”.  Today, Sophia loved the whole experience. She was very into seeing the babies on the screen. She was great at being able to tell what she was looking at; she would ask if that is a hand or babies face, etc. Isabella on the other hand didn’t really care about .seeing the babies. She was uninterested. Bella is such a Mama’s girl. Steve and I keep saying she is going to get a rude awakening when the twins arrive. I think she is going to be the most affected by the twins arrival.
  4. Once we got home yesterday Sophia wanted to give me an ultrasound. So, she had me lay on the couch and she told me she needed lotion and got a toy to use as the ultrasound wand. Then she proceeded to go through the same motions as the ultrasound tech. It was absolutely adorable. She kept telling me now you will see Baby A or this is Baby B. We had a pretend screen on the wall. She was very serious. I asked Sophia if she wants to do ultrasounds and look at babies when she grows up and she said, “No, I want to be a Mama, like you”. That truly melted my heart. 🙂 When your child tells you she wants to be like you there is nothing more special. It truly shows me I am right where I am supposed to be.

 In the comments below:

  1. If you have more than one child how did you help him/her adjust to the new baby? Sophia was so easy I didn’t really have to do anything. She has always been a caretaker.
  2. If you don’t have any children but have some advice for me on how I can help Isabella better adjust I would love to hear it. 🙂
  3. Of course, any advice you have to help me get through these next few weeks is always welcomed.

I don’t have any advice as I’m a long ways from having kids, but I did want to say that I’m super excited for you! How cool to be pregnant with twins 🙂 I hope Isabella adjusts okay! If I happen to think of something that might help, I’ll let you know 🙂

Oh that is so sweet that your Sophia said she wants to be a Mama like you! My heart would have puddled up on the floor right there…How precious. I’m so excited that you’re still feeling good and I know you’re so ready to meet those two precious girls 🙂

    • It did truly make me melt. When I feel like I should be doing something else, I can think of her saying that and I know I am right where I am supposed to be. 🙂
