15 Weeks Pregnant with Twins

15 Weeks Pregnant with Twins

Babies are the size of navel oranges. They are 2.5 ounces and 4.5 inches. This week they are starting to move like crazy. Their joints and limbs can all move now.

Once again I couldn’t find a 15 week picture of twins in utero. There are not very many pictures of babies in utero for multiple pregnancies. I can’t believe I have two of these little ones inside of me. It is truly surreal.

How far along? 15 weeks

Maternity Clothes? Again I am only wearing maternity leggings, haven’t even tried anything else. Haha 🙂

Weight Gain? I did not weigh myself this week. During pregnancy I don’t weigh myself at home, I always wait for the nurse to do it. But probably not much different than last week.

Workouts? This week I achieved four Pilates mat workouts. Very simple but it felt so good to do something. I will be posting the exact videos I did soon.

Symptoms? Still tired, but it is getting better. My lower back has been aching lately, but besides that I have been feeling pretty good.

Stretch Marks? None yet. I have been using my lotion and moisturizing body wash. I am doing everything I did with my girls pregnancies just a little more often.

Sleep? I have been sleeping pretty well, except a few nights I was wide awake from 2-4 am.

Movement? I have defiantly been feeling the babies move lately. It is the greatest feeling.

Genders? We will find out on March 11th! Two boys or two girls. They are identical. I have no idea how we are going to tell them apart. 🙂

What I miss: Still the same as before.  Intense exercise. Wanting to eat. Wanting to cook. Not being exhausted all the time. I think this is going to be like this for the next six months.

Food cravings? Not much. Food still doesn’t sound great to me.

Food aversions? Anything with a strong smell or taste. But I can finally eat chicken again, YAY!

Labor signs? None.

Belly button in or out? In.

What I am looking forward to this week? Rest and relaxation. We have another weekend of very little to do.

Things that Happened this past week: Well, on Tuesday I fell on the stairs. My feet came out from under me and I fell on my back, pretty hard. I am okay and so are the babies. My neck and back hurt, but that’s all. I called the doctor after it happened and she wanted me to have an ultrasound just to be safe. So, Steve met me at  the doctors office and both babies look amazing. It was crazy how you could see lots of arms and legs moving all around. They are so precious. I love them so much already. This was truly a moment I will never forget.

We did find out that they are in two separate sacs and share one placenta. Therefore, they are mono/di twins, which means identical. Oh my! This type of twin pregnancy is considered the second highest risk. Mono/mono (one sac and one placenta) is the highest risk, mono/di (two sacs and one placenta) is the second highest risk, and di/di (two sacs and two placentas) is the lowest risk. I have been learning a lot about twins over these past few months.

Oh my gosh Renee I’m so glad you and the babies are okay! That’s horrible that you fell on the stairs 🙁 They say balance is one of the first things to go with pregnancy. You are so good for not weighing yourself at home. When I was pregnant, I found that I was obsessed with how much weight I gained. The next time around, I’ll be much less worried about it and try to enjoy pregnancy more 🙂

    • Thank you. I felt so silly, I couldn’t believe I fell. I was never clumsy when I was pregnant with the girls, but this time I just can’t keep it together. 🙂
I know it is so easy to become obsessed with the number and I really want to try and enjoy this last pregnancy. Of course, the healthy way. Next time you should put your scale away. 🙂

I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant (first pregnancy) with mono/mono twins, and I’m doing my best to think positively and not to worry about the risks. I’m glad everything was okay for you and your babies after your fall! I think the best part (and probably one of the only upsides) of having a high-risk pregnancy is all the ultrasounds I get to have. Two and a half weeks ago I got to see them moving all around for the first time…it was the coolest thing. Your comment about hiding the scale was something I really needed to see right now. Before I got pregnant I had worked very hard to lose 60 pounds, and being pregnant now and having to be okay with gaining weight has been very tough on me emotionally. I finally had someone hide the scale from me, though, so hopefully I will be able to stop obsessing over my waist-line and just enjoy the fact that my body is a baby-making-machine. 🙂 Love following your blog.

  6. Hi! i am 15 weeks pregnant with mono/di twins and me and my hubby are so excited. we are aware there are risk but not stressing about it at all so far everything is fine. i just got back my blood results and they stated that i have elevated absolute neutropils levels has anyone had this same issue? everthing else cam back just fine. i was reading that this is normal in pregnancy to have elevated levels. my doctor appointment not until a weeks from now.

    • Congratulations!! I have heard that those tests are not very accurate when you are pregnant with multiples. I don’t have any personal experience though. I am so excited for you to start on this journey. 🙂

  8. Congrats to allof you ladies expecting twins, I too am 15 weeks pregnant with our second set of twins, in ever read how high the chances are in having twins again! Wow we were suprised, both pregnancies are di/di, this pregnancy is so different from the first, they were boys, 5and 6 pounds, had them at36 weeks, no c-section, everything went great, that was 7 years ago lol n I’m kind of nervous about doing it a second time around, I never read anything about twins the first time, I just kind of winged it they did everything at the same time too, rolling over, sitting, crawling, walking, even potty training.they are the most amazing lil people we could ever be blessed with, twins are so amazing, and all of you ladies are so lucky! I wish u all a good healthy pregnancy, easy labor, smooth delivery, and sending my prayers! 🙂

    • Thank you. Oh wow, congratulations!! I can’t believe two sets of twins; that is crazy. I hope our girls are as easy as your boys were. Thank you so much. 🙂

What a wonderful source this site is. I am a 36 year old mother of 2 wonderful 16 & 13 yr old young men. My husband and I are also now 15 weeks pregnant with Mono/Di twins . We found out 3 weeks ago that our twins are boys and they are very active at this point. I feel lots of movement every day. All testing has gone well and other than some initial spotting in weeks 6-12 we have had no issues at all. Thank you all for your input to this site. It is nice to read and know that we are not alone with lots of the issues we are facing. Our risks may be high w twins but I have no doubts that our joys will more than make up for it. Good Luck to you all!

    • Awe, thank you!! You made my day.

Congratulations on your twins. I am so glad I could offer some support and incite. When I got pregnant with mu girls I searched and searched for twins blogs and loved reading all about their journey. It really helped get through the ups and downs. Twins are definitely a blessing that we never knew we wanted. 🙂
